    [Note: there are several items to note: The birth record is not found, so the basis for his birthdate is not known, but his father's probate says he is 20 in 1752 and given the marriage and death dates of his mother, this cannot be far off. The death about 1797 is based on a deed giving away his property to wife Ruth, and $1 to each of his children: Benjamin, Thomas, Mary, Samuel, Thankful, Lemuel and Stephen. There is claimed to be a probate record for Thankful's father, Jacob Humphrey, in 1763, that labels his grandsons as sons of Benjamin Lyon deceased, but this sources says this resulted from a failure to crossed out preprinted words on the probate form appropriately.]
