Benjamin Button, born Doc. 31, 1758 at Canterbury, Conn.; baptized Feb. 11, 1759. One record says that he married Clarissa Hamlin (1758-1824) of Canterbury and moved in 1781 to Buel, Montgomery Co., N. Y., where he died Feb. 1, 1847. Alphonso Button's records say he married in 1782 Esther Chapman and lived his later years in Schoharie Co., N. Y. He enlisted In Norwich, Conn. Jan. 1. 1776 and served one year as a private in Captain Roberson's Co. and in Col. John Durkee's Conn. Reg.; he was in the Battle of Trenton.
