Funeral services were held for Bert Van Batavia, 81, longtime Hull vicinity resident who died Friday in a hospital at Sioux Center at 1 P.M. Tuesday at the home and 1:30 P. M. at the First Reformed Church at Hull. Rev. Benjamin Ver Steeg officiated and burial was in Hope Cemetery at Hull. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Cooperative Burial Association of Sioux Center.
Mr. Van Batavia was born July 23, 1873, in the Netherlands. He came to the Hull area with his parents when he was 14 years of age.
He married Theodora (Dora) Westra in 1910.
Survivors are four sons, Peter of Long Prairie, Minnesota, Lewis of Boyden, Iowa, Cornelius and Jacob, both of Hull; three daughters, Mrs. Henry J. Heusinkveld of Boyden, Mrs. Francis De Graaf and Mrs. Edward Sohl, both of Hull; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
