Bartholomew(1) Heath, born in England about 1615, deposed aged about forty-one years in 1656, died in Haverhill, Mass. 14 Jan. 1681. … Bartholomew and John Heath, brothers, were among the early settlers of Haverhill, Mass. … Since only three of Bartholomew's children lived to adult age and married and one of those died shortly after marriage leaving one only child, Bartholomew's only heirs, his wife also being deceased, were his sons John and Josiah or "Josias" as he is called by his father and uncle John. The Court granted administration on estate of Bartholomew Heath, deceased intestate, to the two sons, John and Josiah Heath. The father having given a deed of gift to his sons, 12 Mar. 1668-69, the Court ordered that the estate given in the deed be according to that and that the rest of the estate be divided among all the children, the eldest son to have a double portion. Joseph Page plead to be represented in the estate as he had married the widow of Heath's son Joseph and had in his keeping a son of Joseph. Inventory of Bartholomew Heath who deceased the 14 Jan. 1681. Amount £202 : 10 : 07. (Essex Co. Probate.)
