Bartholomew was the second son to the marriage of Johannes the Younger & Susanna (Herberth) Gonsman. Bartholomew was naturalized Sept.. 25,1847, born in Biblis, a town near the Rhine river valley, the District of Hesse-Darmsdadt, approximatly 30 km south of Darmsdadt, Germany. Settle in Greenfield or Freedom Townships according to the 1850,1860, 1880, census. The german spelling is GanBmann(the capital is B shaped a little differant). Bartholomew was the only son lived to adulthood.
