I Bartholomew Barnard of Hartford declare this my last Will & Testament: I give to my wife Sarah Barnard, during her natural life, my now dwelling house and Lands, to be improved by her and my son John, and she to receive the one-halfe of the profits thereof for her subsistence, with the one-halfe of the benefits or profit of my stock. I also give her £30 to be at her own dispose forever. And after my decease and my wive's decease, to my son Joseph and to my son John I give all My houseing and Lands. I give to my daughter Hannah my House & Lott comonly called Kelor's Lott, & £40. I give to my daughters Elizabeth Wadsworth, Sarah Steele & Mary Bunce, £20 to Each. My son John to be Executor.

    Bartholomew Barnard died 1698 mar Oct 25, 1647 (Hartford Town Record) Sarah Birchard dau Thomas Birchard & Mary. Bartholomew Barnard & wife Sarah rec'd 2 ch Mch 18, 1669-70. Hfd 1647; constable 1655-1665. Bartholomew Barnard was an early settler though not the first at Hartford. Was a gentleman of good standing in the town and held many of the offices in the gift of the town. In 1647 he lived on lot No. 33. In 1655 was fined 5s by the Court for neglecting to return the warrant for deputies to the Gen. Court, as ordered. In 1655 he and William Partridge were the Constables of Hartford. Made free 1656. Will dated Mch 9, 1691. Inv dated 1697-8.
