History of Crawford County, p. 878
J.C. Cole, farmer, P.O. Biddle, was born in Auburn Township, this county
on April 17, 1824, and is the sone of Barnett Cole, who was one of the
earliest settlers of this section. Mr. Cole, the subject of our sketch,
is one of the first white children born in Auburn, and is therefore one
of the oldest living pioneers of the county. A short time after his birth
his father moved removed into Vernon Township and settled below what is
now Liberty Corners.
