At Byron, Waseca county, Minn., Oct. 12th, 1877, of dropsy and consumption, Augustus Lovell Crumb, son of Augustus E. and C. J. Crumb, aged 21 years, 8 months, and 4 days. The subject of this notice bore through his short life the humble cross of extreme physical and mental frailty, yet his brief Christian experience is so full of religious sanctity and pathos that we would notice and comment his simple faith and noble practice for the imitation of youth more especially. One year ago, during a series of religious meetings under the faithful care of a devoted Wesleyan Methodist, Bro. Thomas, who conducted his funeral services, we noticed Lovell an interested, constant attendant, and, at length, a humble worshiper at the feet of Jesus. Never, since then, until his feeble voice grew still in death, was his evening prayer unsaid; humble devotion seemed the inspiration of his daily toil, and anxiety for the spiritual welfare of loved ones his only care. Thus living, as the death angel came nearer, he seemed tranquilly and trustingly to lose his hold on earth, his countenance beaming with an intelligent foretaste of heaven, ere he entered the "golden gate," thus teaching us, in truth, how a Christian child may die. So we,
"Tenderly, quietly laid him to rest.
Well wrought his brief mission -
    Innocence blest!" A. P. O.
