Auguste Paulini Elizabeth was known in later life as Elizabeth. Elizabeth was born on January 24, 1876 in Light Pass South Australia, her father , Johann was 26 and her mother Johanne Pauline nee Hoffman ,was 25. Elizabeth at age 14 worked for Mr Heinrich on his farm in Sohombnrgk. She was attcked and raped by a Sweedish man named August Johanson, on December 12. "Ref: The Advertiser Tusday December 16 1890". Johanson was committed for trial. The trial took place on Friday February 20. August Johanson was found guilty, but the jury ask for mercy. The judge committed Jahanson to six years hard lobour, but because the jury asked for mercy he would not be whipped." Ref; Evening Journal Adelaide Saturday Februry 21 1891"
