    1115. iii. Asa Olmstead, Jr., b. April 19, 1791, at Enfield, Ct., grad. at Princeton, N.J., in 1814, studied law at Springfield, Mass., in the office of Hon. George Bliss of that city and practised it at Wilbraham, Mass. (1822-30), and afterwards for 12 years (1830-42) at Northfield, Mass. Since 1842 he has resided at Clinton, Oneida Co., N.Y., without any special occupation, venerable for his years, maintaining the freshness of his mind and manners to the last ; where he died, Feb. 25, 1874, aet. 82.

    "He was a man of much intelligence, animated, and interesting in conversation, courteous in manner, pure in character, frank in expression, and possessing qualities that endeared him to a large circle of friends. In the family circle no one could be more attractive. He was particularly fond of children, who always warmly reciprocated his partiality. In his last sickness his patience, gentleness and politeness were remarkable, and he displayed in its distressful experiences some of the best traits that adorn the human character."

    He m. July 3, 1821, Mary Proctor Bond, b. at Plainfield, Mass., Nov 16, 1792 (dau of Dr. Solomon Bond of Enfield, Ct., and Sarah Hinckley of N. Brookfield, Mass.). She is still living and in comfortable health and strength.
