- 153 Artlissa Foster was born Mar 6, 1821 & married Isaac Swan Oct 4, 1840. They lived in the south part of Clarendon, NY & moved to Dansville, Ingham Co., MI in 1857, where she died Mar 22, 1903. NOTE Date they left NY is incorrect. They were still in Clarendon, NY for the 1865 State Census, they left after that for Ingham county. NOTE: I have a document she signed in 1898 - she spelled her name Artelissa and used the middle initial P.

Published in the Ingham County Democrat on Thurs Mar 26, 1903 p.8 col 2 - NORTHWEST INGHAM - Mrs. Isaac Swan died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.Bravender a 2 o'clock Sunday morning of gangrene. Same paper & date & page, Col. 3 - DANSVILLE - Mrs. Swan, widow of the late Isaac Swan, was laid to rest beside her husband in the Dansville Cemetery Tuesday. Services at the Baptist Church conducted by Rev.Clough. Published in the Ingham County Democrat on April 2, 1903 p.5 col 3: OBITUARY - Artlissa Foster was born Mar 6, 1821 in Byron, Genesee county, NY and died Mar 22, 1903. She was married to Isaac Swan of Clarendon, Orleans county NY on Oct 4th, 1840. To them were born 9 children - 5 boys & 4 girls - three of whom have gone before to spirit land. They resided in Clarendon until 1867 when they moved to Michigan, settling in Ingham Twp. In 1880 they removed to Wheatfield, where her husband died Mar 11, 1903 (s/b1902), since which time she has lived with her daughter, Mrs Alfred Bravender of Ingham. She was a kind wife & mother and leaves 4 brothers & 2 sisters. Her 4 sons - Fortyce & Frank Swan of Wheatfield & Foster & Marion Swan of Coleman - and 2 daughters - Mrs Geo Gardner of Wheatfield & Mrs. Alfred Bravender of Ingham.. She also leaves 24 grndchn & 18 gr-gdchn besides a host of other friends. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Dansville, Rev Clough officiating. Six of her g-sons acted as pallbearers and she was laid to rest in Dansville Cemetery.
