From the Hinshaw Association: Arned authored the book "Heartbreak Ridge", a noted 1989 story of the Korean War. Amazon.com noted "this compelling story, filled with personal anecdotes from the surviving participants of the battle, enables the reader to view the war through the experiences of the soldier...". The cover of "Heartbreak Ridge" mentions: Arned L. Hinshaw's military career spanned 41 years, both active and reserve. He graduated from the Infantry School, Fort Benning, Georgia. He has served in almost every command or staff level from a squad to the Pentagon and has held every military rank - except Master Sergeant - from Private to Colonel. In addition, he was a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of North Carolina and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Duke University.
