Ardith was born at home in rural Mound Township, the second child to John and Bertha. She was a teacher, starting at the age of 19 having received formal training at a Teacher's College, as was common in the mid-20th century.
She married on 28 Feb 1955 to a husband who was still alive as of Jan 2013; also surviving as of this date were two sons, two grandsons, a brother, two sisters, three sisters-in-law and "several nieces and nephews".
