Arbie Jewell Payne Richmond, 86, of Madison, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover.
She was born Dec. 20, 1923, in Louisa, Ky., the daughter of Lee and Julie Salmons Payne. She was raised in Louisa, Ky., and West Virginia. She was retired from the Burlington Silk Mill in Covington, Va. She had lived in Madison the past 25 years. She was a member of West Street Ministries.
She is survived by one daughter, Sherry Lynn Harris of Madison; two sons, Michael Edward Richmond of Summitt Point, W. Va. and Gary Wayne Richmond of Martinsburg, W. Va.; one sister, Bertha Mauck of Manassas, Va.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Richmond, whom she married Dec. 22, 1946, and who died Dec. 6, 1975; her parents; two brothers, Leo and Otis Payne; and one sister, Iris Lewis.
The funeral was at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial was private in Covington, Va.
