"Mr. Prange was born near Minden, Westphalia, Prussia, in 1841, and came to this country in 1864, locating in Indianapolis the same year. He was subsequently engaged in the grocery house of his brother, Mr. Charles Prange, and afterward admitted to an interest in the business, the partnership continuing for 11 years, at the expiration of which time Mr. Anthony Prange withdrew from the firm and opened a store at No. 301 Massachusetts Ave., which he conducted successfully until December 1879, when he took possession of his present quarters."

Anthony arrived in America almost exactly 10 years after his brother Charles ("Karl").

Below, in the "IMAGE GALLERY" is a picture on the right, of two family plots, on the east side of Concordia Cemetery. The CENTER tall monument, in the background, is of Anthony Prange's family plot. At the left, the tall monument is the adjacent FUEHRING plot monument, and as is the case of the Prange monument, there are a number of individual family burials. Absolutely no linkage has been found (yet!) to connect these two families. However, Anthony's brother Karl (Charles), is buried on the other side of the same cemetery. His wife Christina was born a LOHMEIER, and her mother was a FUEHRING! Fuehring is a very rare surname. There is only one Fuehring listing in the entire US 1860 Federal Census (in Iowa).

In this same Concordia Cemetery, is buried Sophia (Lohmeier) Busking (also has a WeRelate page) who is also a Fuehring descendant. As far as known, Christina & Sophia are the only known descendants of their Fuehring family to migrate to America. One can only wonder if there is a Fuehring connetion between these families - somewhere!
