... Mary Simpson; third child of Col. John and Mary Wells Simpson, was born April 2nd, 1791, at Belfast, Laurens County, S.C.; married in 1805 Capt. Anthony Griffin, son of Richard and Nancy (Clark) Griffin, of Virginia. Capt. Griffin resides near Spring Grove, in the lower part of Laurens County, S.C., where his wife Mary died on Aug. 10th 1845, and where also, five years later, in the summer of 1850, he died.
