Partial transcription from Cutter He received a common school education, and learned the trade of ship carpenter and followed the sea a short time. Soon after his marriage, he settled in Cumberland, Rhode Island, where he bought a farm in the settlement known as Abbott's Run and followed farming. After the death of his wife he made his home with Columbus Tingley, of Cumberland. In politics he was a Whig, and later a Republican. In religion, he was a Methodist and a member of the church of that denomination at Arnold's Mills, Cumberland. He was a useful and respected citizen. He died at the home of his daughter, Caroline Coombs, at Plainville. References
