In his will dated 27 Feb 1632 and probated 17 Oct 1636, he identifies himself as "Richard Sanford of North Weald Basset in the Countie of Essex, Yeoman". He mentions "Eziekell Sanford's children, my Kinsfolke", "Ezekell my Godson", "Sarra Sanford, my godDaughter", "Zakery Sanford, hir brother", "Thomas How my Kensman of much Hadame", "my brother Henry Grube", "Annis, my wife", "John Grube, my Godsone", "John Grube, my brother", and "my Brother Haukes".
