Facts and Events
GRANDMA[6] identifies Anna as the daughter of Peter Teuchgrew mentioned in the August 1809 Chortitza Colony vaccination list[4], and listed in The Old Colony (Chortitza) of Russia[3]. If so, she was likely born in 1806 (age 3 in 1809), even though the Bergthal Gemeinde Buch gives her birth date as Jul 1807[2]. This would make her 18 when she was married instead of 17 and 2 months, which seems more in keeping with the marriage dates of other women in the Mennonite tradition of the time. It should also be noted that the 1801-1813 Chortitiza Colony vital records as compiled by Tim Janzen, which cover Jul 1807 but are missing several months in 1806, do not include the birth of an Anna Teichroeb[1].
Alternately, Anna might be, as indicated in IGI[5], the 1-year-old daughter of Heinrich Peter Teichgraew of Blumstein, Molotschna mentioned in the Oct 1808 Molotschna census (B.H. Unruh, p 314). This seems less likely, as she married a Chortitza Colony man (Peter Abraham Harder). However, it should be noted that her husband's brother Abraham lived in Molotschna.
