"The reasons for supposing that Ann Collins's maiden name was Riall (or Ryall or Royal) are threefold: one, Henry and Ann Collins gave the unusual name of Riall to a daughter who died young (LVR). Secondly, Isaac Ryall (or Royal), a carpenter of Dorchester, Mass., married Ruth Tolman, daughter of Thomas Tolman. Two children of Henry Collins also married children of Thomas Tolman. Thirdly, William Ryall, of Salem/Beverly. Mass., is thought to have been born at Stepney Parish (Henry F. Waters, Genealogical Gleanings in England [Baltimore, 1969], II:738)."
