Facts and Events
Name Ann Thorley
Gender Female
Marriage 1663 Cheshire, Englandto James Fernihough
Burial[1] 29 Nov 1699 Marton (near Congleton), Cheshire, England

Ann Thorley's origins have yet to be established. Her first confirmed sighting is on 6th February 1663 when she was named in a marriage licence to marry James Fernihough. At that time she was living at "Summerfield" which is likely to mean Somerford in Cheshire. James was from the neighbouring village of Marton. It is not clear exactly when or where they married, although Ann was already heavily pregnant at the time of of their marriage licence being granted, with her first daughter being baptised less than two months later.

Ann and James went on to have four children baptised at Marton between 1663 and 1670.

Ann's eldest son married in 1684 and Ann seems to have had at least ten grandchildren born in her lifetime.

It is not clear when Ann's husband James died. One possibility is that he was buried at Marton on 4th November 1699 - the parish registers have a Fernihough burial on that date, but the forename has completely faded (and there does not appear to be a surviving Bishop's Transcript for that year). Ann died just three weeks after this burial. She was buried at Marton on 29th November 1699.
