Anne daughter of Sam'l Capen who was son of John Capen [sic] [baptized] 15. 9'm. 1724
[Note: in margin: "Nov. 8 Sam'l Capen & Deborah His wife laid hold on ye Coven't". The baptisms of both Anne and her brother Timothy refer to Samuel Capen, husband of Deborah, as the son of John, but this appears to be a misconception by the clerk, as the birth records of his children from Timothy (1725) to Abijah (1732) identify him as Samuel Capen Tertius, whom a deed in 1730 explicitly identifies as being the son of Samuel. There is no known Samuel who is a son of John who would be of the right age to be having children at this time, the only Samuel who is a son of John being the husband of Susanna who was b. 1648 and d. 1733 (the other Samuel, s/o John, that is found in Dorcester records was the grandfather of Ann, and John was the great-grandfather of Ann, but that Samuel d. in 1720).]
