Ann Burrus was baptised on 12th June 1815 at Folkingham in Lincolnshire, daughter of a cooper called Richard Burrus and his wife Frances.
Ann appears in the 1841 census living in the household of a hardware dealer in the town of Bourne, a few miles south of Folkingham. By 1851 Ann was living with her brother, sister and niece at 9 St Mary's Street in the city of Lincoln, and she was described as a housekeeper.
On 3rd March 1852, aged 36, Ann was married at the Register Office in Lincoln to John Turner, a farmer from the village of Heckington. He was a widower, with a seven year old daughter from his first marriage to whom Ann became stepmother. Ann and John returned to Heckington after their marriage. They do not appear to have had any further children.
The 1861 and 1871 censuses find Ann and John living in Heckington. John also served as a Baptist Minister as well as being a farmer.
John died on 24th May 1877, aged 67. Ann survived him by just under two years. She died at Heckington on 10th May 1879, aged 63.
