A transcription of her will:
This 24th day of March in the Year of our Lord God 1740 I Anne Bembow of the Parish of Trefeglwys in the County of Montgomery Spinster, in a sence of Mortality, being in health and perfect memory and mind thanks be to God therefore: do make & ordain this my last Will & Testament, in manner and form following, Viz
First I bequeath my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator and Jesus Christ my Redeemer; and my Body to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executor hereafter nominated.
And as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased [God] to bless me in this Life I give, devise, bequeath, & dispose the same in manner and form following.
I Will that all my Debts (if any) be fully satisfied & payd.
I Give and bequeath to my dear Mother Esther Ashton the Interest of Sixty Pounds during her Life.
I Give and bequeath to my Sister Mary Ashton the summe of Five pounds,
I Give and bequeath to my Nephew David Lloyd the summe of Five pounds,
I Give and bequeath to my nephew Edward Ashton the son of John Ashton the summe of Ten pounds and my Chest,
I Give and bequeath to my nephew John Ashton the son of John Ashton the summe of Ten pounds,
I Give and bequeath to my nephew Charles Ashton the son of John Ashton the summe of Ten pounds, to be paid them after my mother's decease.
I Give Ten pounds for my funeral expences.
I Give and bequeath to my beloved Sisters Mary Ashton & Elizabeth Evan all my wearing Apparel equally to be divided between them.
I Give and bequeath to my beloved Nephew Valentine Ashton the son of the said John Ashton the summe of Twenty pounds and all the rest of my Chattels Bills Bonds Notes for money or goods whatsoever Whome I do constitute and ordain sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament revoking & anulling all other Wills & Testaments made by me heretofore, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day & year first above written.
