Andrew & his wife moved for a time to Sullivan Co, TN. Some of the children born prior to 1799 were likely born in TN not VA. Date of move to TN is not known. Move to Russell/Scott Co, VA was 1799.
Andrew's will was signed May 17, 1819. His death is also frequently shown as May 1827, I have not found actual proof yet.
His name has several occurences in Russell Co deed book 1806-1814,Russell Co Law order book #3, 1799-1803.
Andrew McClellan and wife Rebecca Robinson had a batch of children which included the Elizabeth who md. John Casteel. This list is in Jean Casteel Brown's book where she abstracts the 1819 Scott Co., VA, will of Andrew McC. The will shows sons George, Josiah (b. 1785 in Bladen Co., NC), Moses and Samuel and daughters Betsy Casteel, Mary Lane and Rodah.
We know John Casteel and wife Elizabeth McClellan - these are the Casteels who filed suit to break the will of Joseph Casteel and moved to Barron Co., KY, then finally to Roane Co., TN. (And I do now believe this because of a deed made in 1810 by John Casteel "now of Barron Co., KY" selling his Russel Co., VA, property.
However, my morning message is not about them, but about another daughter mentioned in the will of Andrew McClelland - the woman termed "Mary Lane." So I've just looked Andrew McClellan and family up at RootsWeb and find myself pretty excited.

which follows daughter Mary McClellan Lane. She was b. 1788 TN and d. after 1870 in Scott Co., VA. Born in TN in 1788, how interesting. Her husband is even more intriguing. He was Benjamin H. Lane, born 1787 in GREENE CO., TN. His father was Dutton Lane, b. 1745 Baltimore Co., MD, and d. after 1828 in Scott Co., VA. Mother was a Keziah (no last name), b. 1750 PA & d. 1850 Scott Co., VA.
Ohmigosh, the Babbs Mill Road list of the 1780's whereon lived all those Greene Co., TN, Casteels also has the Lanes.

This one claims that Benjamin H. Lane, husband of Mary McClellan, was not a son to Dutton Lane, but to his brother/cousin Corbin Lane (also from Greene Co., TN). Corbin Lane b. 1750 (no place) and d. 1816 Scott Co., VA. His father is supposed to be a Samuel Lane, b 1700 Baltimore Co., MD, and who d. bef 1779 in Bedford Co., PA, md. to a Jane Corbin.
The following file also follows Mary McClellan who md. Benjamin Lane, but it surprisingly got be to Babbs of Scott Co., VA ... BABBs of Scott Co., VA? The Babbs in this file go back to a Peter Babb who d. 1773 in Chester Co., PA. A son Benjamin Babb is the one who ended up in Scott Co., VA, but a Phillip Babb who had the mill on the Babbs Mill Road List of Greene Co., TN, is from the family.

There's another, documented file on the Babbs which has no Casteel info but gives a good look at how the Babbs got there and when. It's just incidental proof that the early Casteels of Babbs Mill Road likely are also from the same general background, but very interestingly written.
