[edit] Personal History[edit] Dr. Andrew Forrest (1754-1818)DAR Patriot: ANDREW FORREST (A041132) [edit] The following sections are copied from Family Search ID K2S7-KB8[Note: list copied from Rootsweb, 2021] "Commissioned 8 Jan 1776 as 2nd Lieutenant, 3rd Pennsylvania Battalion, Continental Army. Captured 16 Nov 1776 at Ft. Washington (Manhattan). Exchanged 25 Oct. 1780. He retired from service, not being able to get his rank. He was entitled to captaincy from 10 Apr 1778, according to Col. Cadwalader. He resided at Harrisburg for many years after the war, removed to Milton, PA where he was practicing medicine in 1814. Died at Danville, PA shortly thereafter." Lt. Andrew Forrest, 3rd Regiment (1776) Pennsylvania, on "list of Capt. Graydon's company taken from payroll to 1 Sept 1776. List dated Phila. 24 Feb 1781.....Stoppages per the order of Col. Bowdnot..." "Surgeon from Berks County, PA, in Col. Hiester's Company." Dr. Andrew Forrest listed as "surgeon" in 6th Battalion, 3rd Regiment, Berks County (PA) Militia, commanded by Lt. Col. Joseph Hiester. "Hiester's Battalion" on active duty 10 Aug 1780 - 9 Sept 1780. Worked at (owned?) an apothecary shop in Berks County, PA in 1780. First medical doctor residing in Danville, PA (no date). A "Capt. Andrew Forrest" applied for and received bounty land as pension on 16 Mar 1790 Andrew Forrest listed as "taxable" in 1818.
