Amy Elizabeth Irish was born in Alfred, N. Y., March 19th, 1841, and died in Syracuse, N. Y., April 28th, 1920. She was the daughter of the late James R. Irish, D.D., and Charlotte Irish.

Her school days were spent in DeRuyter, N. Y. March 28th, 1868, she was married to Mr. Thomas J. Place. For the past twenty-four years they have lived in Syracuse. They were, however, planning to move to Alfred and spend their remaining years among old friends. But that satisfaction was not to be theirs. The brief funeral services, conducted by the acting pastor, were at the residence of the brother-in-law, Mr. Isaac M. Langworthy, in Alfred. Burial was in Alfred Rural Cemetery.
