    -29 Aug 1748 Mrs. Amie Lanphear, widow of Amos Lanphear, late of Westerly deceased, appeared with her son John Lanphear & asked town to take care of her son John Lanphear. Town Council gave indenture of orphan John Lanphear to Benjamin Earl of Stonington until sd John arrives to age 21 years; the sd orphan being 13 years ol ye 22 of Nov last.
