Historic Homes and Institutions and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs of Worcester County Massachusetts, p. 462, in his coverage of the family, says that Amos was "born 1730". As the records say 1738 with no hint of an earlier son who died, this has the appearances of being a transcription error.
