    HOLTON – A.F. "Mike" Pelton, 86, of Holton, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at the Holton Community Hospital.

    He was born September 25, 1920 at Ford, KS the son of Fred and Bertha Long Pelton. He graduated from Holton High School in 1938.

    Mike was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theatre of Operations. He was a rural letter carrier in Holton, retiring in 1980.

    He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton, the National Rural Letter Carriers Association, and Past District Commander of Holton Memorial Post No. 1367 of the VFW.

    He married Mildred Whaley. They were divorced. He later married Alberta L. Walsh Zirger on August 21, 1970 at Holton. She died March 13, 1997. Mike was also preceded in death by four brothers, Harvey Pelton, John Pelton, Harold Pelton & Andy Pelton.

    Survivors include two sons, Larry M. Pelton and wife Susan, Topeka, and Rick Pelton and wife Lois, Holton; two daughters, Ramona Wheeler and husband Dean, Soldier, and Denise Lang and husband Maurice, Oklahoma City; three step-daughters, Viola Groves, Aurora, Colorado, Pat Bruns and husband Larry, Whiting, and Cheryl Larson and husband Howard, Holton; two sisters, Susie Curtis, Ness City, and Nina Morrell, Abbyville; seven grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, twelve step-great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Holton Cemetery. Mike will lie in state at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, followed by visitation.
