Alvin J. Huff, 88, of Bloomsbury, died Sunday, February 6, 2005, in Country Arch Health Center in Union Township.
Born: January 29, 1917, in West Portal, a son of the late Joseph and Lillie Everly Huff.
Personal: He and his wife, the former Lorraine Kisselbach, were married July 23, 1938. He was a member of the Phillipsburg High School class of 1936. He was a beater engineer with Riegel Paper Company in Milford for 40 years before his retirement. He worked in civil defense in Hunterdon County during World War II. He loved to travel and loved NASCAR, especially #24 Jeff Gordon.
Memberships: He was a member of the Bloomsbury United Methodist Church. He was an exempt and the oldest living member of the Bloomsbury Hose Company and a member of the Phillipsburg Exempt Fireman's Association.
Survivors: his wife; a son, Lance A. Sr. of Wilson Borough; a daughter, Linda Huff Muessig and her husband, Gerald, of Bloomsbury; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Huff of Northampton; four grandchildren, Lance A. Jr. of Oxford, Kimberlee Kossup of Bloomsbury, Tracy Adamski of Nazareth and Jennifer Hutchison of Bloomsbury; and eight great-grandchildren. A grandson, Robert J., died in November of 2001.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Rush-Devlin Funeral Home, 42 Church Street, Bloomsbury. Call 1 p.m. to time of service Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Bloomsbury Cemetery.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the church.
