CHARLES CARL BURIED ON SUNDAY -- Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Crandell funeral home for Mrs. Charles E. Carl, 62, who died Thursday following six weeks illness at her home on North Delaware street. The Rev. Lester Morford officiated and burial was in the French cemetery in Seville township. Alta Button, daughter of Joseph and Eveline Button was born in New York state, October 3, 1886 and came to Gratiot county with her parents, when a small child. She was married to Charles Edward Carl on November 17, 1905 and they made their home on a farm near Riverdale until coming to St. Louis in 1930. Surviving are the husband, two daughters, Mrs. Gerald Krote of Midland, and Betty Carl at home, five sons George Carl of Flint; Edward, Howard, Harry and Forest all of St. Louis; 18 grandchildren, one brother, Burt A. Button on Lansing, one sister, Mrs. Eugene Crum of Crystal. Mrs. Carl was a member of the Church of God. Source: Gratiot County Herald, Ithaca Michigan, Thursday, May 20, 1948, Pg. 28.
