↑ 1.01.1 "Alonso de Cárdenas and the Long Parliment", The English Historical Review:
Alonso de Cárdenas (1592-1664), knight of Santiago, was born in Madrid, second son of Urbán de Peralta y Calderòn and Elvira de Cárdenas y Figueroa, sister of the count of Puebla del Maestre. He preferred his mother's surname since he claimed succession to the title of Puebla del Maestre. His grandfather, Luis de Peralta, was Philip II's contador of the revenues of the order of Santiago; his brother, Luis (1590-1669), served on Philip IV's consejo de Haciendo; a younger brother Enrique (1594-1678) was bishop of Almeria (1654), of Palencia (1659) and Archbishop of Burgos (1661).
