XV. Sir William Sinclair, eldest son of the above George, succeeded his grandfather, and had the honor of knighthood conferred upon him by King James V. with whom he was in great favor, and was often called to sit in parliament by a special writ.
He married Alison, daughter of George, fourth lord Home, (omitted in the Peerage, page ?45,) and, upon his own resignation, got a charter under the great seal, Willielmo Sinclair de Roslin, militia, et Alisona Home ejus spousa, et baredibus masculis, inter ipsos legitime procreat. Etc. etc. terrarium de Hillend, et Easter-Sounomshope, cum pertinen. Jacen. In baronia de Pentland, etc. etc. dated 27th November 1526.
Also a charter of the lands and barony of Roslin, Herbertshire, etc. in the counties of Edinburgh and Stirling, de novo unit. Dated 17th December 1527.
He afterwards got a charter confirming a charter granted by King Rober II. in favorem Henrici de Sto Claro, comitis Orcadia, pradecessoris dicti Willielmi, terrarium baronia de Roslin, etc. etc. This confirmation is dated 14th November 1533.
He died in the flower of his age, anno 1540, and by the said Alison Home left a son, Sir William XVI.
