    FUNERAL RITES FOR MRS. SMITH CONDUCTED SUN
    Aged Woman of Grand Coteau Fails to Rally --- Grief Over Family Deaths
    She was buried Sunday morning in the Sacred Heart Church in --- as final rites were conducted for Mrs. Alida Petetin Smith, member of a widely know St. Landry Parish Parish family. Mrs. Smith, widow of the late Ralph Smith, passed quietly at 10 Sunday morning --- in family home in Grand Coteau. --- in character and a staunch supporter of the Catholic Church and in former years, --- commanded the love and --- all of the older generations --- of her love of service and neighbors in other --- an inspiration to --- She had been very active up until a --- months when her advanced age and two family deaths proved too much for her to overcome. Her sister, Mrs. Alma Petetin, and a nephew, Armand Petetin, passed on within a short time of each other in March.

    Pallbearers at the rites, which were largely attended, were E. J. Bienvenu, Mansura, Gordon Oge, Washington; Lee and Tom Smith, Opelousas; and Frank Boss and Armand Dunbar, Grand Coteau. Surviving are one son, Lee Smith, Opelousas; three sisters, Mrs. W. M. Brinkhaus and Miss Genevieve Smith, Grand Coteau, Mrs. E. J. Bienvenu, Mansura; and three sisters, Mrs. J. M. Oge and Mrs. M. R. Dunbar, Grand Coteau, and Mrs. W. S. Gardner, New Orleans.
