Obituary ALICIA VERHAKE 1931-2016

 Alicia Stevenson Verhake, 86, of Peoria passed away peacefully Monday, December 19, 2016, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, with her family by her side.  Born August 24, 1930, in LaPorte, Indiana, one of three children of Otelia and Harry Stevenson, Alicia married Thomas "Tom" L. Verhake on February 7, 1953.  Tom's various assignments for Caterpillar, Inc., took them to Jacksonville, Florida, Portland, Maine, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Peoria, Illinois.  Tom preceded her in death on January 29, 2012.  Surviving are her daughters, Sue (Steve) Mahany of Dunlap, Illinois, and Carol Verhake of Berwyn, Pennsylvania.  Alicia graduated from the University of Michigan, where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority.  Alicia enjoyed giving back and was the President of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter KX from 2015 until her death.  Her hobbies included gardening, traveling, knitting needlework, following University of Michigan sports teams and making Nantucket baskets.  She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church.  Cremation has been accorded.  Services will be private.  Memorials can be made to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home or charity of your choice.  The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co., Perkin/Peoria, is assisting the family.  Online condolences may be made at csmico.com.
