Facts and Events
Name[1] Alice _____
Gender Female
Birth[3] Est 1558
Marriage Est 1579 to John Gregory
Burial[2] 3 Dec 1617 Broughton-Sulney, Nottinghamshire, England

Possible Maiden Name

Her maiden name may have been Baylye/Bailey.[1]

The Ancestral File gives her maiden name as Alton. This comes from a misreading of a pedigree reproduced on page 25 of Ancestors and Descendants of Henry Gregory, where Alice's name is followed immediately by the name of John Alton, who is included in the pedigree as the grandfather of the wife of Alice's grandson.

Ancestors and Descendants of Henry Gregory indicates that she "may have been a Baylye"[1], which is undoubtedly the source of other incorrect information given in the Ancestral File - a first husband named Mr. Bayley.
