    Alfred George Boumphrey, Rock Lodge, Monkstown, co. Cork, son of the late Joseph Boumphrey, of Liverpool; born September 1st, 1861; educated at Birkenhead College. For many years was resident in the United States; Secretary of the Monkstown Golf Club, and one of the original members, the present success if this now well known club being in a great measure due to Mr. Boumphrey; ex-champion croquet player of the North of England, the North of Ireland, and Scotland;...is Churchwarden of St. John's Church, Monkstown, and during his term of office the church was re-decorated under his supervision at a cost of 500 pounds, which was subscribed for in two years. Recreations: gardening, golf, and croquet. Married, June 10th, 1885, Annie d'Esterre, daughter of the late John P. Tayler, of Kenwood, Chicago, and has issue one son, John, born in 1886, and two daughters, Gladys, and Eileen. Clubs: Cork, Royal Cork Yacht, Royal Munster Yacht, Cork Harbour Rowing, and Monkstown; and is on the various committees. (Hodges, 1911).
