MARA--A Towering Family Tree

Mr. Duncan McLeod, who has recently returned from a trip in the County of Ontario, kindly furnished the Peterboro Examiner with the following particulars respecting the remarkable physical altitude of the McRae family. Mr. Alex McRae, who is the brother of Duncan McRae, who once represented Victoria County in Parliament, lives at Long Point on lots 28 and 29 in the 8th concession of the township of Mara...The family consists of Mr. and Mrs. McRae, six sons and four daughters and their respective heights in stature is as follows: Alexr McRae the father 6 ft. 4 in.; and the sons John A. 6 ft. 4 in., Alex A. 6ft. 7 in., Donald 6ft. 4 in., Farquhar 6 ft., Hugh 6 ft 4 in., Duncan 5ft. 11 in. Of the female members of this lofty family Mrs. McRae, the mother is 5 ft. 7 in., Isabella 6 ft. ½ in., Clementina, fifteen years of age 5 ft. 10 in., Mary, thirteen years of age, 5 ft. 10 in. The weight of the boys range from 190 to 250 Pounds.
