The June 1797 date comes from a record of the family in the town records and thus is not a primary record. The gravestone transcription is more likely accurate, in spite of the incorrect age. (Note that the current grave marker (FAG) says July 8, 1796, but presumably it is not original and the original stone was too worn to distinguish June from July.)
