Albinas and Emilija were both arrested for "Crimes against the State" (false charges for anyone the Soviets wanted to deport) and sent to Siberia in a cattle car. They survived their time there but came home to find their land was taken by the Russians and they could not find employment because no one knew if they were sympathetic to the Russians or were still Lithuanians. Their spirits were broken and both died young. During that time period, over 300,000 Lithuanians were sent to Siberia, many dying on the way or soon after their arrival because of the harsh conditions. Names of those deported have been released by the recently released by the Russians. References
