There is only circumstantial evidence for her surname being Stone and her parents being John and Agnes Stone, but it is a reasonable assumption to make.^[1]

   'On 27 May 1597 [John Adams] became bondsman for Agnes, widow of John Stone of Barton David, executrix of the will of her late husband, and it is not improbable that this record may indicate a relationship usual in such circumstances. The wife of John Adams was named Agnes and she may have been a daughter of John Stone and he became surety for his mother-in-law, a common occurrence.'
