NO ABSOLUTE PROOF THAT ADAM IS THE SON OF JOHANNES. [lots of evidence]

Tombstone has the Sloop surname spelling. Many different spellings of this surname, including SCHLUEP, which is probably the original spelling.

St. Peter's Church Records say that an Adam Schlup was in the first confirmation class of the church in 1863.

Adam Sloop is buried next to Joseph Schlup, who would be his uncle. Joseph was living in Adam's household at the time of the 1870 census enumeration.
