Catholic Faith, From Zeiskam, Kurmainz, arrived in Oranienbaum (not far from Saint Petersburg) on 8/8/1766 by the ship under the command of Heinrichson. Their children arrived in Kukkus Colony on 26 Jun 1787

It is a fact that only people of the Reformed Faith lived in Kukkus. This story will explain how a Catholic family arrived and settled in Kukkus.

As the widower, Adam Baum, was traveling to Kukkus with his children, he died while in Oranienbaum, near St Petersburg. His children were taken in by a childless familiy he had befriended while on the ship which was taking both families to Russia. Wilhelm and Anna Maria Kloss took the orphaned children in and raised them as their own in Kukkus. The children of Adam Baum, a Catholic, were raised in the Reformed Faith. That is how a family of Catholics arrived in the Reformed Faith village of Kukkus. (Story taken from a letter written by Dr Igor and Ludmila Pleve to Gene Lehman in 1998)
