    [Double dating is normally used for Jan. through March 24, so this usage is a little confusing. When someone talks of the winter of 1711/12, they mean the winter that starts in 1711 and ends in 1712, so it would seem that this probably means 29 Dec 1711. It is hard to see how 29 Dec 1712 could justify any mention of 1711, so that is probably the wrong interpretation.]
