Abraham E. Wadhams resided on a farm near the village of Wadhams Mills. He was also engaged in milling industries there with his brother William. About 1850 he went to California, taking with him his eldest son Edmund. In 1852 he returned home via Isthmus of Panama, leaving his son in California. A friend who was traveling with him had a fever and died at sea. Mr. Wadhams, in caring for him, contracted the fever and died a short time after he reached home.
