This Abram Vail was known as “Black Abram” to distinguish him from Abraham Vail who married Margaret Fitz Randolph [daughter of Edward and Phebe (Jackson) Fitz Randolph], who was known as “Red Abraham”.’

    Unfortunately, between the 1943 publication of this information in NEHGR and the 1950 publication of the book, the same marriage date got applied to two different marriages involving two couples with the same names. See NEHGR 97:338 for what is assumed to be the correct information.
