Abraham was initially admitted to Mount Joy Soldiers Orphan School in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was transferred to White Hall School in Camp Hill, Cumberland County in 1866 with a group of other students. He remained there until his 16th birthday (20 Oct. 1871) when he was discharged. Notes indicate he was employed in a nail factory. At the time of his death, Abraham was a retired baggage man for Pennsylvania Railroad.
