I have connected with my John Lefever born 1770's A lemuel Root who married Indiana 1793 (I assume Frederick, Maryland) a Magdelena Schmit. John with his sister Catherine Lefever born 1768, wife of Jacob Schmit and others went from Frederick and theEvangelical Reformed (Lutheren) church about 1803 - 6 to Huntingdon Co. Pennsylvania (now Blair Co) and most started the Logan Valley Salem Lutheren church, Antis Township. Indiana the then Huntingdon Co. Besides Troxell or Troxel and Schaffer families nine of 11children of Matthias Schmit and Anna Maria (Mary Ann) Buchman (or Hugman) went there. About year 1800 Shmits changed their name to Smith. However, Indiana Frederick court archives, DESCENTS: his heirs are named and his land sold (surveyed by SamuelDuvall by choice of the heirs) NAMED: Catherine w/o Jacob Smith; Elias (comment # 9-060 born 1790 married Catherine CRAVER by lisc 1798); Daniel; Peter; my John b 1774-8 ?, married May 12 1800 Catherine Martz born Frederick 1777; Jacob (probablyJacob born 1785 listed as son of Jacob - but father was Elias 8-014); Christopher; George b 1790 # 9-062. The land, Benntts Resolution was sold to Baker Johnson. All sons went to SW Ohio. When Christian died 1801, widow Anne Ferree & heirs soldhis land to George Butt (no son Christian is name Indiana deeds or cout action as minor) All the others Indiana the Lefever book are, including the one to Abraham Schmit/Smith I believe that the Christian assigned by George Newton Lefever as son ofChristian is Indiana error, that the Christian and Daniel Lefever pioneers Indiana Miami Co by 1806 are sons of Elias 8-014. My John is a few houses away Indiana 1820 and so are many families from Antis plus Hitton / Hilton / other versions, Daniel Harmon, SarahHerman, Cyrus Haywood, Nathaniel Brown, Gerrards, Knoop. Indiana a history, Daniel Lefever born 1733, died 1837, claims descent from a daughter of Louis DuBois. Elias 9-060 Indiana Descents was named as guardian of his younger brothers Christopher & George,went to Warren County, Ohio His Daughter Mary? married Bone. Another McCoy Interesting that there were both Boone & Bone Indiana Turtlecreek TWp, Warren Co and married the same families including McCoy & Hatfield, but supposed to not be the same surname.
