ABNER(3) CHASE (Daniel(2)) born in Newbury 15 October 1699; died in Amesbury between 29 Mar. and 18 Sept. 1780. He married (1) in Haverhill, 24 Nov. 1721, ELIZABETH WHITTIER, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Peasley) Whittier, born in Haverhill, 19 Sept. 1695. She joined her husband in signing a deed 19 Mar. 1742/3 (Essex Deeds, 90:111). He married (2) MARY ----- who survived him. He was a housewright and lived in the eastern part of Haverhill and Amesbury. He was received into the Second Church of Amesbury (now Merrimac), 3 Mar. 1727/28. His children were there baptized 1728 to 1738. Mary, widow of Abner Chase, died in Amesbury, 27 Jan. 1828, aged 93. In his will, made 29 Mar. and proved 18 Sept. 1780, he mentions his wife Mary, and his son-in-law Ebenezer Colby; his daughter Molly Colby to have his homestead; his granddaughter Sarah Sargent to have his first wife's furniture; grandson Chase Sargent to have 100 acres in Hopkinton; granddaughter Mary Webber, grandson Ensign Sargent; daughter Elizabeth Chase to have pasture in Amesbury; negro man Peter; Abner Danforth son of Enoch Danforth to have £502; his friend Francis Chase of Newton, N. H., and wife to be executors (Essex Probate, 5081). Children by first wife, born in Haverhill.
